Peach Sommerfeld

Hello!

My Story

From the moment I held my first baby doll, I knew that the core of who I am and the purpose of my life was to work with children. Whether through volunteering in childcare programs to being a professional childcare provider, I have enthusiastically become involved in any opportunities to work with infants and children.

As I pursued my degree in American Sign Language, I worked as a daycare teacher which sparked my love for providing creative education, promoting childhood development, and seeing the long term impact on my class as they flourished. When I made the tough decision to begin working as a full-time nanny, it immediately clicked that this is what I was made to do.

Since then, I have harnessed my life-long experience and passionate drive to become a significant part in both the children and family’s lives as a career nanny. I see it as a gift to me that I am incredibly grateful to love what I do and excel expectations in my work.

I am particularly adept at incorporating a Montessori approach, integrating therapy-based techniques, and communicating effectively to ensure children thrive with confidence, knowledge, and support. With a background in theatre, I follow the “yes and” improv rule in play which opens opportunities for children to creatively explore the world and express their thoughts.

As a nanny and educator, I’m honored to support families in the Atlanta area as part of a team to support their children with proactive, experience care.

“They took the time to understand our daughter’s unique personality and needs, engaging her gently and respectfully. Rather than rushing the process, Peach allowed our daughter the space and time to feel comfortable. Their bond developed quickly and naturally.

In addition to their warmth and creativity, Peach is impressively knowledgeable about child development. They frequently observe her progress and communicates openly with us about their observations. Peach has provided us with thoughtful suggestions and insights that have been very helpful in supporting our daughter’s growth. They often go out of their way to research our questions and returns with well-informed recommendations. It’s clear that Peach prioritizes each child’s well-being and development in everything they do.”

“Of the many childcare professionals I have known throughout my time, both as a nanny and a preschool teacher, Peach is among the most knowledgeable, detail oriented, and patient of people I’ve worked alongside.

Peach has a great attitude and maintains a high level of professionalism throughout the entirety of their time working alongside a family. They have experience with a wide array of children of different ages and abilities. They are very sensitive and adaptable to each family’s different needs and are a skilled communicator.”

“We are regularly impressed at how well Peach can convince our son to eat his lunch or take his nap since we struggle with it all the time. Furthermore, in addition to helping teach him verbal speech, Peach is also proficient in sign language and has taught our son with fluency, which he uses all the time. He loves Peach and will regularly ask about them on weekends or when they are not around.

Peach is also great at following any specific instructions that we give them and accommodating unique needs such as handling food allergies, wearing masks when any of us are sick, or adjusting to different sleep routines.”

Big expectations, real impact.

Finding someone you can fully trust and work collaboratively with is so crucial when considering a childcare provider who plays such a significant role in their life! For a thorough understanding of who I am as a nanny, please take a look at the pillars of my character.

  • With a lifelong love for learning, I have extensive knowledge on a wide range of topics and interests including, but not limited to, language and cultural studies, botany, human behavior, art, and literature. I've often been described as having an energetic yet calm personality with a love of exploring and growing.

I love to travel whenever I get the opportunity to and have been to nearly half of the US states and four countries. I especially love exploring outside and in nature!

  • “The only thing more painful than becoming yourself, is not becoming yourself.”

I have the unique experience of being a nonbinary nanny and primarily use they/them pronouns. I’ve found that many families find it reassuring that their children are cared for by a presence that is both feminine and masculine. While it may mean I’m not compatible for everyone, I have had the honor of many expressing it as an aspect that they love.

If you have any questions on what this looks like when working with you, I’m happy to explain the smooth process I’ve implemented with others! You can visit my FAQ section to contact me.

  • From the very start, I prioritize the physical and emotional safety of all children I work with. I truly believe the connection and mutual trust you build with kids is the foundation to creating a safe space for them to learn, make mistakes, and experience the highs and lows of figuring out who they are.

In terms of discipline, I view each moment as a teaching experience with the same grace and understanding I’d give to anyone. As my bond is built with mutual respect and empathy, many of these teaching moments can be responded with an impactful conversation. In cases this can’t be solely applied, I believe in correlated consequences and clear boundaries.

Overall, I treat each day with kids with the importance and weight of it becoming a core memory of their life.

  • Throughout my life, I have been deeply involved with childcare volunteer work at churches, homes, schools, and Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing programs. Both in high school and college, I took any courses on Early Childhood Development and Education as I could. Like many childcare providers, I have been a reputable local babysitter and summer nanny.

While studying American Sign Language in college, I was a daycare teacher for 6 and 7 yr. olds in a 20:1 ratio. I often had kids transferred to my group if they were struggling to thrive as our Director saw the clear effect I had on kids who previously had a long history of behavior and social challenges. In addition to following a very thorough education program, I also created opportunities for cultural and social studies. We would role-play social scenarios, read about disabilities and diversity, and learn culture and basic languages such as ASL, Japanese, and Spanish.

As a full time career nanny, I’ve worked primarily with infants, toddlers, and neurodivergent children. There is so much soft joy and warmth in working with our littlest ones. I celebrate each milestone and find so much fulfillment helping parents have educated empowerment. I love finding creative ways to promoting their development!

With neurodivergent children, I have experience working with Autism, ADHD, AuDHD, PDA, ODD, PANDA, and OCD tendencies. In every ND household I’ve worked in, I am extremely honored and grateful that I’ve been told I have formed a unique bond with and understand their children in a way no one else has. I truly love working with these kiddos and I learn so much from them!

I have experience ranging from birth to nearly 14 yr. olds and have a genuine love for working with children of any age, background, and abilities.

In addition to standard safety training and certifications, I have received 60 credit hours of TCAP Early Childhood Development and Family Studies, Taking Cara Babies training, and NCTA Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula training. I am an INA member and have had the honor of being a panel speaker at Atlanta’s 2025 InNTD, Chicago’s 2026 InNTD, and the Community Advisor for Chicago’s 2026 International Nanny Training Day.

As a lifelong learner, I am always continuing my studies and training as I believe there will always be more for me to learn! I strive to be well-educated and confident when working with children, so parents can be at ease knowing their precious kids are in good hands.

  • As a NCTA Newborn Care Specialist and Doula trained nanny, one of my specialties is working with birth to 3-year-olds. I find great joy in fully optimizing development through a blend of a Montessori and Waldorf approach. I love creating play based learning from the very start and implementing techniques that will help them thrive years ahead!

Additionally, I also specialize in being a neuroaffirming nanny for neurodivergent toddlers to teens. I’ve had the great joy of working with such unique minds and it’s amazing how they challenge my own perspective and knowledge so I continue to grow. I am most experienced working with ASD, ADHD, AuDHD, PDA, ODD, PANDA and OCD. As someone who is neurodivergent themselves, I’ve been often told I speak their children’s native language.

  • I am available for full-time positions at the start of June as well as babysitting on weekends and evenings.

My start date and available hours of the day are flexible to the family’s schedule.
